Can't make it to Annandale? No problem. The Sharpening Dude accepts mail-in skates from anywhere in the country — the same hand-finished precision the DMV trusts, shipped to your door. Every pair is handled personally by John. No pile, no rush, no guessing.

How It Works

1. Pick your services — browse the Mail-In Services collection and add what you need to your cart. Not sure what you need? Ask before you ship — John answers personally.
2. Check out online — return shipping is a flat $11.99. You cover the trip to us; we handle the rest.
3. Pack your skates securely — shipping whole skates? Blade guards on, or wrap the blades in a towel, then a sturdy box with padding. Shipping just the blades? Remove them from the holder and pack them in a blade case — don't have one? Add a Howies Blade Case ($22) or a Bladetech Travel Case ($20) to your order and we'll ship your freshly sharpened blades back home in it.
4. Include a note with your name, order number, contact info, and any specific requests (hollow preference, profile type, etc.)

6. We get to work — turnaround is 1–2 business days from the day your skates arrive.
7. We ship them back — you'll get a heads-up when your skates are done and tracking when they're on their way home.

Shipping Tips

• USPS, UPS, or FedEx — all work fine
• A medium flat-rate USPS box fits most skates and is an affordable option
• Add insurance for high-value skates
• Always use blade guards or wrap blades before packing
• Mailing blades only? A Howies or Bladetech blade case protects them both ways — and it comes back with your steel
