Common Problems We Fix

Loose holder / “wobbly” feel

Often rivets or hardware. If your blade feels unstable, don’t wait — it can get unsafe fast.

Hot spots & pain points

Punching/stretching to relieve pressure (ankle bone, navicular, toe cap rub, lace bite).

Broken/cracked tendon guard

Replace the guard so your stride feels normal again and the boot stays protected.

Missing / stripped hardware

Screws, clips, rivets — the little stuff that keeps everything tight and secure.

Fit feels “off” after time

Baking (when appropriate) + targeted adjustments to get heel lock and comfort back.

Holder upgrade / replacement

If a holder is cracked or blown out, we’ll replace it and make sure alignment is correct.

Quick check: If you can wiggle the holder by hand, if a rivet looks “lifted,” or if you hear clicking—text me a photo.

When to Repair vs. Replace

Repair is usually the move if:

  • The boot is still supportive and feels solid.
  • It’s a holder/rivet/hardware issue.
  • You’ve got one or two pressure points.
  • The skate fits great and you just need it tuned up.

Consider replacing if:

  • The boot is breaking down (soft, collapsing, no ankle support).
  • Eyelets/lace system is failing repeatedly.
  • The outsole is cracked or separating badly.
  • You’ve outgrown them or fit is fundamentally wrong.

Not sure? I’ll be straight with you. If a repair doesn’t make sense, I’ll tell you before you spend money.

How Repairs Work

  1. Quick check-in: I look over the skate/boot/holder and confirm what’s needed.
  2. Repair + quality check: Fix the issue and make sure everything is tight, aligned, and safe.
  3. Optional sharpening: If you want, we’ll finish with a fresh cut so you’re ready to roll.
Pro tip: If your skates feel “wobbly” on the ice, it’s often a holder/rivet issue — don’t wait on it.

FAQ

Do I need to know exactly what repair I need?

Nope. Text me a photo and tell me what you’re feeling (loose, pain spot, shifting, etc.). I’ll help you decide.

Can you fix a loose holder?

Yes — loose holders are usually rivets or hardware. I’ll secure it properly and make sure it’s safe.

Do you work on both hockey and figure skates?

Yes. If it’s a skate/boot/hardware issue, I can usually help — and if it’s outside my lane, I’ll tell you straight.

What should I bring?

Bring the skates and any replacement parts you already purchased (holders, tendon guard, hardware). If you’re not sure what parts to buy, text me first.
