Not Sure What Hollow to Get?
Here are safe starting points we recommend every day.
Quick Picks (ROH)
-
1/2" — more bite (quick stops / tight turns)
-
5/8" Most common — balanced bite + glide
-
3/4" — more glide (less bite, smoother feel)
Ice, weight, and skating style all matter. If you’re unsure, text us and we’ll recommend a starting cut.
ROH vs FBV
ROH (Traditional)
- Standard feel most players know
- Easy to match and repeat
- Great for consistent edge feel
FBV (Flat Bottom V)
- Different feel — often “glide + bite”
- Popular with players chasing speed
- We’ll start conservative if you’re new
If you’ve never tried FBV, we can set you up with a safe first cut and adjust after feedback.

FAQ
How often should I sharpen?
It depends on level, ice time, and preference. Many players sharpen every 3–6 hours of ice time. If you’re slipping on stops or losing confidence on edges, it’s time.
I don’t know my hollow. What should I do?
No problem. Start with 5/8" for balance, then adjust based on feedback. You can also text us your level + style and we’ll recommend a starting cut.
Can you match what I had before?
Yes — if you know your ROH/FBV. If you don’t, we’ll recommend a starting point and refine after you skate on it.
Do you sharpen goalie skates?
Yes — goalie ROH and FBV options are available.
My steel is rusty or nicked. Can you fix it?
In most cases, yes. Rusty Blade Restoration is available when needed, and we’ll tell you if the steel is too far gone before doing work.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes — appointments are required. If you don’t see a time that works, call or text us and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
