Skate Profiling Services
Profiling is one of the biggest “hidden upgrades” you can make to your skates. It changes how your blades sit on the ice, how quickly you accelerate, your balance, and how stable you feel in turns — without changing your skates.
Is profiling worth it?
If you feel too far on your toes, too far on your heels, struggle with stability, or want better acceleration / agility, profiling can be a game-changer. It’s also great when you’re switching skate models/brands or you’ve grown and your skating feels “off.”

What to Expect
1) Quick Assessment
I’ll ask about your level, position, what you like/dislike about your current feel, and what you’re trying to improve (speed, tight turns, stability, backwards, transitions, etc.).
2) Profile Recommendation
We’ll choose a profile that fits your skating and build a plan if you’re changing things gradually. (Some skaters adapt best with small steps.)
3) Cut + Sharpen
After profiling, we’ll sharpen to your preferred ROH/FBV (or we’ll choose one if you’re unsure), so you leave with a complete setup.
How to Choose a Profile (Simple Guide)
-
Feel like you’re on your toes / falling forward? You may need more stability or a different balance point.
-
Feel stuck on your heels? A profile change can help you get onto your edges and accelerate easier.
-
Want faster acceleration? Profiling can help create a more responsive setup (without feeling twitchy).
-
Want more stability in turns / stops? A profile can calm the skate down and build confidence.
-
Just got new skates and they feel weird? We can often match the feel of your previous setup.
Not sure? That’s normal — just book and I’ll guide you through it.
What to Bring
Bring Your Skates
Skates + steel. If you have extra steel, bring it too (especially if you want a “test pair”).
Know Your Current Setup (If You Can)
Current ROH/FBV and anything you remember about your old skates/profile helps — but if you don’t know, no problem.
Turnaround
Most profiling is scheduled by appointment. If you’re on a tight timeline (tournament/weekend), text me and we’ll figure it out.
Profiling FAQ
Will profiling feel weird at first?
Sometimes — especially if it’s a big change. Many skaters adapt in 1–3 skates. If we make a major adjustment, we can step into it gradually.
Do I need new steel to profile?
Not always. Used steel can be profiled if there’s enough height left and it’s in good condition.
Can you match my old setup?
Yes — that’s one of the most common requests when switching skates or holders.
Should I change my hollow too?
Not necessarily, but sometimes a profile change and a hollow adjustment together creates the best result. We’ll talk it through.
